29 May Matthias Building nomination to the National Register of Historic Places
The first phase of the exterior renovation of the Matthias building necessitated a focus to the roof. A repair evolved into a total roof replacement which further evolved into a replacement of the top five feet of brick parapet along with the total roof. The renovation became hands-on lessons of construction, demolition, architecture and engineering. A daunting problem found solutions with experts from all those fields as well as local suppliers. A lot of people came together to solidify Matthias’ exterior
